There are many people who have excuses as to why they do not need to go to church. I would like to list them below and share my heart on the subject. They are as follows:
1. I will not walk away from Jesus but I’m done with Church.
To this I would say, If you do that you are walking away from Jesus. You can not say you love Jesus but then refuse to submit to His word. (John 14:23) Jesus founded the church. He established the Apostles to be the foundation of it. Then He assigned prophets, teachers, and pastors to be the structure of it. So a choice of Jesus over church is making your opinion more important than His Word. This sort of mentality reveals that you believe you can do it better that Jesus.
2. We are the church so we don’t need to go on Sunday.
I’ll approach that argument for a moment. Most people who say this forget that Jesus laid His life down for the church. Why is it that Jesus was willing to give His life for the church and you are unwilling to be around people for fear of being hurt? (John 15:13, Mark 12:30-31)
3. I don’t need the church to be the body of Christ.
Coming together in assemblies is important to reveal that Jesus died so there might be a united people, not just individuals who choose to isolate themselves. (1 Corinthians 11:8, 1 Corinthians 14:23) He desired that we worship and pray together. (Ephesians 5:19, 1 Corinthians 14:16) He also spoke of the preaching of God’s word. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Timothy 4:2)
What Jesus has established should never be demolished, diminished, or abandoned due to the opinion of man.
