Shield

Isaiah 54:17 New King James Version (NKJV)

17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.

In the first seven words of this verse we read that no weapon formed against us will prosper. So we tend to take from this verse that if we are in Christ Jesus, weapons will not be formed against us. But that isn’t what is says. This verse doesn’t mean that weapons won’t be formed against us. In fact, it almost guarantees that they will.

Every accusation brought against those who are in Christ Jesus will be refuted in the end. But that doesn’t stop accusations from coming. It makes an assumption that they will.

God is the great healer. But that doesn’t mean you will never battle with a sickness.
God is the great comforter. But that doesn’t mean you will never battle with loneliness.
God is the great provider. But that doesn’t exempt you from trials and hardships.

David said in Psalm 3:3 that the Lord was his shield. What’s the point of having a shield if you never come under attack?

Remember today that the struggles you’re facing don’t disprove the promises of God. They are the very reason He made the promises in the first place.
