In Judges 6:12, 14-15, the angel of the Lord said to Gideon: “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior…Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand.” Gideon said, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
Sometimes God comes to you and tells you who you are and our response is: “No, I’m not…”
No, I’m not a mighty warrior.
No, I’m not called to do that.
No, I’m not good enough.
No, I’m not capable.
No, I’m not worthy.
No, I’m not beautiful.
No, I’m not lovable.
No, I’m not…
We think that the way God sees us, is according to our pedigree. When in all honesty, it’s fully based on the potential He has put inside you. It’s important to know that He doesn’t measure you based on your lowest moments in life. He measures you according to the high calling He’s places inside you.
God does not define your life based on what you’ve done or who you are. He defines who you are by what Christ has done and who He is. For that reason alone we have a lot to be grateful for.
Long before God revealed to you, who you are, He knew. God isn’t taken back when we don’t believe we can become who He is calling us to be.
God wasn’t taken back when Abraham told Him he was old.
God wasn’t taken back when Moses told Him he was a stutterer.
God wasn’t taken back when Gideon told Him he was insignificant.
It didn’t change His mind either. When God speaks, don’t seek out a second opinion. Including your own. Especially your own.
God is the leading expert on you. He custom-designed you for His good purpose.
There are times that God shows us who we are and our reaction is: “No, I’m not…”.
Good thing our first reaction is not the final word.
