Matthew 14:21, John 6:1-14
These two scriptures tell a story about Jesus feeding a large group of people who have been following Him and listening to His teaching. They only find a boy with five loaves of bread and two fish. In Matthew verse 21 we read: “The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.” It is important to note that there were more than 5,000 people. There were 5,000 besides woman and children.
Believe it or not. It was quite typical in those days for the woman and children to be left out of the count. This means that there could have been around 20,000 in attendance at this feast.
Think about it. The boy was left out of the count but the miracle came from his basket. God performed a miracle through one who was overlooked. Interesting isn’t it, how God chooses the most unlikely to do His work?
Whenever He looks for someone, He typically looks for those who are overlooked. Don’t overlook someone to quickly. They might be the source of your next miracle.
If you feel like people have overlooked you. Don’t worry. People might look at the outer appearance but God looks at the heart.
