Open My Eyes

“Open my eyes, that I may see.” Psalm 119:18 NKJV

Sunday, after the second service, I traveled right into the heart of Saint Louis. Since I arrived, this verse has been my prayer. God has opened my eyes to a few things I believe might challenge and encourage you on your path as well. So I want to take a moment and share it with you.

Here are three things God has whispered to me in my time with Him so far:

1. Settling for what you accomplished yesterday will paralyze your progress.

“Shawn, If what you did yesterday still looks big to you today then you probably haven’t done enough today.

Paul was good at this. He celebrated all of his accomplishments, but he stayed focused on what God had for him in the future. Paul says in Philippians 3:13-14, “Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on”.

2. Don’t sit around waiting for tomorrow’s opportunities.

“Shawn, in this life there are great things we can’t do and little things we won’t do. Don’t let these two things cause you to do nothing.”

Wether we want to admit it or not the world is most blessed by those who do things, and less by those who simple talk about it.

3. Your beginning should not dictate your end.

“Shawn, Echo Church has a great beginning. This is why you need to be reminded that I have even greater things in store for you than what you have seen. Don’t be guilty of letting the good things in your beginning rob you from greater things in your future.”

It’s easy to trust God for your future when you have gone through hell. The danger comes when your beginning is good. So often we allow the good to rob us from the greater thing.
