Luke 1:39-45 New International Version (NIV)
39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
I just can’t get this scripture out of my mind. When Mary came into the room, the baby in Elizabeth’s womb jumped for joy. You know why? Because Mary was a carrier of Christ. We have a huge responsibility to be a Christ carrier. The more we carry Him, the more opportunities we have for the Christ in us, to cause others to leap with joy.
I understand how difficult Christmas can be for people. Many of you are entering into situations this Christmas that are dysfunctional. I want to tell you this evening that there is power in your presence, because you are a carrier of Christ. You can have and be a giver of Joy in the most dysfunctional environments, when you carry Him.
What are you pregnant with? What’s inside of you; you will one day give birth to in your life. What are you giving birth to? Remember, you, and the people around you, are pregnant with the possibility of JOY.
Hurry into your Christmas, carry Christ, and be a giver of joy.
