Ephesians 6:10-20 (New International Version)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
My kids love to play dress up. I walked in the other day and saw that my youngest boy was dressed up like a chef. I asked him if that was what he wanted to be when he got older. He responded by saying, “No way. I would have to go to school for that. It would take me a long time to learn how to cook real good. I might not be able to see you very much because I would be working all the time. I don’t think working with knives is very safe. I think I will just live with you and help out at the church every once and a while, when I feel like it.”
Funny isn’t it? They enjoy dressing up like chefs or superhero’s or football players but they don’t want to put the work into actually making their dreams become a reality. All in all it is still cute to see a kid play dress up. The problem is adults are still doing this. Quite honestly, when adults play dress up it just isn’t as cute.
As Christians we need to stop playing dress up and put on the full armor of God.
So many people may be saying right now. Well Shawn, I am dressed in the armor it speaks about in Ephesians. The problem is so many people have on the armor but haven’t gotten into the battle.
We need to raise up a generation of believers who are ready to fight for something.
In my personal opinion, if you want to see someone fight for something find me someone who has carried something for a long time.
Any time someone carries something for a long time they will not let it die easily. If you want to know what will cause you to be relentless. It is when you went through hell and high water to get it and something comes and says its going to take it. You say bring it on if you think you want to mess with me. This is war. You can’t be a baby sitter and fight like that, you can’t be cordial friend and fight like that, you’ve got to be somebody who has been through all kind of pain and all kind of labor and all kind of trouble to say wait a minute devil your’e not going to destroy this, I went through to much. That’s what you need to tell him about your children. I went through to much. Your not going to destroy this family. The devil is a lie. You need to tell hell no.
You can’t have my children
You can’t have my strength
You can’t have my mind
You can’t have my desire
Give me a person who’s been through it and you have someone you can build an army with. Give me someone who’s sold out to something and you’ll have someone who you can win a battle with.
Don’t get me wrong you can have all the faith in the world and everything can still go wrong.
No one promised you it was going to be easy.
No one promised there wasn’t going to be opposition
No one said that the walls would fall every time you need a break through
No one said you weren’t going to get hit high, low, and everywhere in between.
God didn’t promise He would deliver you from the battle He just promised he would protect you in the battle. So drop your clothes for armor and get in the battle.
