“All men forsook me…Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me.” (2 Timothy 4:16-17)
I have been reading these words over and over again today: When you remain uncommitted there is a hesitancy, and often you will draw back. When you commit God begins moving on your behalf and a whole new string of events begin to unfold in your life. Unforeseen incidents, encounters, people, and help begin crossing your path. So become committed!
Stop worrying about people who are refusing to go with you. Sometimes commitment means going on alone. A few examples in the Bible would be Daniel praying alone, Elijah sacrificed alone, and Jeremiah wept and prophesied alone.
It’s when we commit, and not a second earlier, that God intervenes on our behalf. When the Hebrew children made a commitment not to bow down before idols, God brought them out of the fire. King Nebuchadnezzar stood in awe and said: “There is no other god who is able to deliver in this way” (Daniel 3:29 NAS).
What is God calling you to commit to? Maybe he’s calling you to finally commit to your church, your marriage, or ultimately to Him. Obey. Step out, have faith, and do it. If you’re afraid remember, you were created to live, not exist. So don’t waste your days trying to prolong them. Just commit and live each day to it’s fullest.
