There is this story about a young son of a king who was removed from his family and forced to live in horrible conditions. He was exposed to every kind of horrible thing imaginable. Though for a time he grew up as royalty, his captors believed they could break him to such a degree that he would eventually destroy himself by giving in to a life of total and complete debotury. But after months of being around all of it, the boy remained un-affected. When asked why he wouldn’t take part in any of the things he was subjected to, he said, “Because I was born to be a king.”
He knew were he came from and his purpose in life. He knew that he was born for a throne, to rule and reign, to have authority. He knew he was born to be a king.
If you’ve experienced salvation and Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, you too were born to be a king as well. Peter said it this way, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy” (1 Peter 2:9-10).
You need to understand who God’s Word says you are. Let it empower you to walk away from things designed to trip you up and cause you to live a life less than who you were designed to be.
